20 Ways You Can Help Fight Human Trafficking: Office to Monitor and combat Trafficking in Persons is a list provided by the United States Department of State. This list serves as a helpful resource for other sources as provided in the list. It also helps serve as a reference for my research in finding ways to combat human trafficking, preventions, and seeing how the fight against human trafficking is already being handled. This list can serve as a way to help guide me into what I should take into account when developing my solution. The United States Department of State is a great source for information and it’s suggested other sources from this list are helpful for finding other credible sources.

A21 is an organization that is already working on combating Human Trafficking. Their page Human Trafficking details the importance of human trafficking awareness and provides a concise definition that is easy for others to understand. They also provide statistics, solutions, and their own ways of helping victims and bringing awareness. They provide links to victims stories and links to places to donate and raise money to help keep programs running that are already in place. A21 is recognized non-profit organization that takes place in many countries all over the world.

Human Trafficking on the FBI’s website is an important source for my research. The FBI has to deal with the human trafficking problem directly which makes them a reliable and important source. The information provided is factual and lists proven and effective ways for people to get help or become informed on prevention. This source also explains what happens after human trafficking has been discovered.

Free the Slaves is a known and reliable organization for my research. They have been running since 2007 and provide information on forms of common to uncommon ways people are slaves. In most of these forms of slavery human trafficking is heavily involved. Their website serves as a good resource for getting data specific to the youth and how modern day slavery is till an issue. Topics such as how gender plays into modern day slavery are also provided and helpful for understanding my audience.

Human Trafficking information provided by Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a source that can help me see how human trafficking is handled when it comes to the United States and Mexico. Just like any other country, Mexico and the United States have the issue of human trafficking. Because both countries are next to each other, it’s also important to know Immigration and Customs Enforcement handles human trafficking happening between Mexico and the United States and how help can be provided. They also provide examples of ways to raise awareness such as posting people who are wanted for being human traffickers.

United Nations has provided a voluntary trust fund for victims of trafficking in persons. This serves as an “Integral component of a global effort to address traficking in persons” and focuses on helping women and children. United nations is a global organization that is widely recognized throughout the world. This page serves as a great way to gain information that is constantly updating and being added to. United Nations is a great source for topics like this because they are known as leaders in combatting world issues by providing help and resources that are needed.

Missing Kids is a national center for missing and exploited children. Their page on child trafficking addresses trafficking that feels more like it’s on a neighborhood level rather than on a global scale. They provide easy to understand definitions of different forms of local human trafficking. This source would be good to use as reference on how to speak to the younger generation about such topics and how they would understand it.

Polaris is an organization that focuses on combatting human trafficking. They provide statistics from 2019 from people in the United States. They also draw the line between myths and facts. Misinformation can become harmful so to fix this they provided the answers to any myths or common questions about human trafficking. They also provided their own thoughts on long term solutions to help solve this problem which is a good reference for comparison.

The Department of Justice provides an extensive and detailed definition of what human trafficking is and how they handle this issue. Other than the FBI and others that might be directly involved in facing this issue, the Department of Justice makes it one of their top priorities seeing as they are the ones who are in charge of responding to crimes like these. They list action plans, tasks forces, initiatives, and enforcements they partake in and help with. These are all great sources in gaining further knowledge into the prevention and aftermath the government does to help in the United States.

The Department of State provides one of the most up to date and higly credible sources of information for human trafficking in the united states. From this information I can gather relevant data that can help me work based off the most recent discoveries and information. There are timelines and examples of reports, as well as lists of those who help and have been recognized as heros by TIP (Trafficking in Persons). They provide information on trafficking in the United States as well as other countries they are involved in helping.
